Learn how to use the BleedStopper Catastrophic Bleeding kits to control a bleed

Course Introduction

In the first section, we introduce you to your Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings course. We will look at why this training is now required, what injuries require this treatment and the dressings available, including Catastrophic Bleeding Kits. You will learn about Coagulopathy and how this can affect first aid treatment and watch a practical demonstration on blood loss.

Tourniquets

In this section, you will learn about Tourniquets, what they are and how to use them, and the potential damages that could occur. There are a number of different types available and we look in more detail at RapidStop Tourniquets, CAT Tourniquets, SOFT-T Tourniquets, MAT Tourniquets, SAM XT Tourniquets STAT Tourniquets, as well as the use of improvised tourniquets where a commercial one isn't available.

Haemostatic Dressings and Powders

In this section, you will learn about Haemostatic Dressings and Powders in greater detail. You will learn how to pack a wound and learn about Celox A, Celox Granules, Celox Rapid, QuikClot® Haemostat and Axiostat Haemostatic Pads.

Patient Aftercare and Course Summary

This is the final section, in which you will learn how to monitor a patient after treatment, how to recognise and treat shock, and what stock you need to have in your kit. We finish with a brief course summary to help prepare you for your final test.
